Chlorine disinfection and pH control using AutoPool® at Lotherton Wildlife Park: Pools for Penguins
The importance of disinfection control, specifically in the case of chlorine, is crucial when it comes to water sources for wildlife. The pH of a pool of water that wildlife is exposed to is required to be optimal at all times to maintain good health.Penguin pool being monitored and controlled by the AutoPool® The AutoPool® from Pi monitors pool water in real time and controls the disinfection and pH levels to ensure that a high quality of water is maintained. The control of both pH and chlorine dose is done in an extremely powerful, yet simple PID control loop. This provides plenty of protection such as overfeed protection, as well as secondary set point dosing to manage large faecal incidents. Another key feature of the AutoPool® is the MutoDrive® technology. This control algorithm optimises the recirculating pump dependent on bather load, thereby saving money on electricity both during the day and at night. It’s no wonder that our client SERA chose the AutoPool® for the penguin enclosure at Lotherton Wildlife World in Leeds! The service team at Pi had a second visit to the penguin enclosure at Lotherton Wildlife World to service and commission the AutoPool® installed as well as to build on training provided by our experts from a previous visit. Both the SERA staff, and Lotherton staff greatly benefitted from the training session. The session included training on how to use the AutoPool® pump control system, calibrate the sensors and adjust their setpoints.
